Recycling

There are websites and places you can go to sell recyclable junk, a few are:

  • Cash for cans, where you can sell all your used tins for a few quid
  • Envirofone where you can sell your old mobile phone for an upgrade or money
  • Cash for cartridges where you can sell your used empty ink cartridges or you can refill them at cartridge world for cheaper then it would be to buy new ones.
  • Music magpie where you can sell your old cds
  • Green metropolis where you can sell you old books
  • Oxfam where you can sell jewellery,
  • UK iPod repairs where you can sell your unwarranted broken iPods
  • Local scrap merchant where you can sell bits of your old useless vehicle

Also, use reusable bags rather than plastic bags. They can be bought from superstores and online and are stronger, won’t break, and you can use them over and over again. The best thing is you don’t have to dispose of any plastic polythene bags, which take centuries to decompose – unless burnt, which would create horrible polluting gasses.

You may be aware by now that many products sold in stores are made of recycled materials. There is a great demand for these products and they are proving very energy efficient because they can be recycled again and again and again and again and again and again … etc. To find out what exactly all these products are, visit recycledproducts.org.uk.

Most importantly, visit www.recyclenow.com to see any items that can or can’t be recycled. You might have something and are not sure whether it’s waste or useful material. Paper, glass, plastic, metals, etc, most of these can be recycled, Britain’s local authorities all issue boxes and bins for these items, and for larger stuff you’d like to get rid of there are mass recycling businesses where you go and just chuck it all in appropriate skips!
